Weedkiller linked to organ failure and cancer remains legal and popular in the U.S.

Lives are at risk. We demand a ban. It Could Damage Your Organs, Wreck Your Nervous System, and Even Cause Cancer. Demand the U.S. Ban This Weedkiller Ingredient.      Sign Now      Annisa,   Diquat is the terrifying herbicide ingredient you've probably never heard of. It could damage your organs, harm your nervous system, and even cause cancer.   And while countries around the world have banned this substance for its toxicity, the U.S. is dragging its heels — and risking lives.   You see, herbicide producers have come under fire for using the highly toxic ingredient, glyphosate, in their products. As a 'solution', they're replacing glyphosate with something that could be even more dangerous: diquat.  Not only can diquat kill gut bacteria and permanently damage organs, it is thought to be a neurotoxin, cancer-causing, and linked to Parkinson's disease! So why isn't the EPA, the government agency charged with regulating substances like this one, doing anything about it? Phasing out one deadly ingredient, only for it to be replaced with an even more dangerous one, is not just ridiculous, it's bad policy. The EPA must immediately regulate diquat, like so many other countries already have, before thousands of Americans suffer the consequences. Sign now to tell the EPA: no more cancerous weedkiller ingredients! Ban diquat now! Thank you, Sophie Care2 Petitions Team P.S. Diquat is banned in many countries for its harmful affects on people, but the United States is refusing to ban it! Sign the petition.      Sign Now

This state will let hunters slaughter up to 558 wolves

Wolves have roamed these lands for generations. We must protect them from massacre. Montana Approves Plan to Let Hunters Kill a Record Number of Wolves Sign Now    Annisa, Montana's government has given hunters the go-ahead to slaughter as many as 558 wolves this season — the largest number in recent history. Even worse, it's given permission to individual hunters to trap or kill as many as 30 wolves per person. This even impacts wolves living near the famous Yellowstone National Park! Wolves in the U.S. Northern Rockies region were protected under the Endangered Species Act until 2011. But now, with those protections gone, Montana officials apparently are giving hunters exactly what they want. These animals are considered a "keystone species," meaning they're essential for the ecosystems and food chains around them. Without wolves maintaining a stable population, whole biosystems can be thrown out of whack. This trickles down to even impact the literal grasses and other foliage! Even worse, Montana's own agency for Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) released data showing that this new hunting and trapping policy could reduce the wolves' populations to below the level that is considered "sustainable" — in less than a year. Slaughtering wolves just to appease greedy, self-centered hunters is grotesque and cruel. We must speak out for these wild animals! They have a right to live! Sign the petition to demand that Montana immediately reverse its new wolf-hunting policy and instead instate full protections for these majestic creatures!   Thank you, Celeste Care2 Petitions Team P.S. Don't let Trump open this protected Arctic reserve to drilling

Reversing protections to allow oil and gas drilling would be devastating for this ecosystem. Oil and Gas Drilling Could Begin in Protected Alaska Reserve. We Must Speak Out Against This! Sign Now    Annisa,   The U.S. government is preparing to allow oil and gas corporations to begin drilling in an Arctic reserve in Alaska. The specific reserve is the largest area of public land in the nation, even larger than some U.S. states. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including endangered species like polar bears and many migratory birds. But now, this entire protected area is at risk of industrialization and habitat destruction because Trump has promised to roll back protections and increase drilling within the U.S. Already, Trump's U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has indicated it is likely to reverse protections on 82% of the area, known as National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A), with the intention of allowing oil drilling. In fact, it has already rolled back three previous portions of Biden-era protections. Native Alaskan communities, wildlife, and the Earth deserve better. These lands must be protected and respected. Oil and gas development tears up whole ecosystems with roads, equipment, deforestation, pollution, spills, and more. But on top of that, we simply do not need more oil and gas drilling! The Earth is already experiencing catastrophic climate change, resulting in record heat waves, droughts, wildfires, hurricanes, and floods. We must act quickly to reverse our dependence on fossil fuels, not to increase it. We absolutely cannot let greedy fossil fuel corporations take over this important ecosystem. Sign the petition to help us demand full protections for the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska!   Thank you, Celeste Care2 Petitions Team P.S. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management must halt its plans to allow fossil fuel extraction in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. Sign the petition.      Sign Now

Over 100 geckos left to die in a storage unit

Neglect this severe must come with real accountability. Starved, Forgotten, Left to Die: Over 100 Neglected Geckos Found Suffering in Storage Unit      Sign Now      Annisa,   Recently, Florida investigators uncovered a horrific reptile neglect case. Inside a storage unit, they found 111 geckos trapped inside filthy containers, many already dead, others barely clinging to life. The individual responsible has pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty. This level of cruelty isn't just neglect — it raises serious questions about whether this was part of an illegal trafficking operation.   Sign the petition to demand a permanent, enforceable ban on owning animals of any kind, and for authorities to fully investigate whether this was a trafficking situation.   Forty-one geckos died in absolute misery, without food or water, left abandoned for months. The surviving animals endured unbearable suffering, and photos show the skeletal remains of those who didn't make it. A person who could leave living creatures to die like this should never again be trusted with their care. Sign the petition to tell the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission: ban this man from owning animals permanently, and ensure a thorough investigation to prevent more geckos from suffering this fate. Thank you, Jess Care2 Petitions Team P.S. We can stop this kind of cruelty from repeating. Sign the petition!      Sign Now

School shooting in Minnesota: does Congress value gun lobby money more than kids' lives?

Congress is choosing to prioritize corporate gun lobby profits while children suffer. Two Children Are Dead and Seventeen People Injured in Start-of-Year School Shooting in Minnesota Sign Now    Annisa, I don't want to be writing you this email. I don't want to write to you about how there's been yet another massive school shooting in the U.S. I don't want to have to fall back on the usual framework I use when writing about this, just updating it with details about "this time." But because grotesque acts of mass gun-based murder occur so frequently in the U.S., I am writing you this email, following my years of practice writing exactly these kinds of messages. Congress could easily prevent this series of repeating horrors. All U.S. lawmakers have to do is finally choose to prioritize the safety of the American people over corporate profits, and pass comprehensive gun safety laws. This time around, a person in their 20s approached a school in Minnesota, the Annunciation Catholic School, which was beginning its first week of the new school year. While children, teachers, and other adults gathered in the school's church pews around 8:30am, the person hauled a collection of various different guns from their car and stood outside the school's church windows. As they shot through the windows, aiming directly for the children there, the shooter periodically stopped to alternate between using different guns. This person killed 2 children, and injured 17 additional people — some as young as 6 years old. Some are in critical condition. One girl watched gunshots hit her best friends in their stomach and neck, then had to recount it to her friends' parents. Why is it like this in the U.S.? We all know the answer by now: the corporate gun lobby, the National Rifle Association. Why do we continue to let a lobbying organization hold Congress hostage while each year, children are killed simply going to school? Sign the petition to demand Congress finally show it cares about the lives of the American people and American schoolchildren by passive comprehensive gun safety laws!   Thank you, Celeste Care2 Petitions Team P.S. Don't let the gun lobby keep sacrificing children to yet another mass shooting. Congress must act now. Sign the petition.      Sign Now
