A 6-year-old student gunned down his teacher after administrators ignored the warning signs

But as more details came to light, the story just became more tragic -- apparently school administrators were repeatedly warned that the student may have a gun and was threatening people throughout the day... meaning this shooting was completely, utterly preventable.   The teacher "was shot in front of those horrified kids, all because the school administration failed to act," said her lawyer.   Thankfully she survived, but she has a long recovery ahead. Teachers throughout the U.S. have some of the hardest jobs, for some of the lowest pay, and live under constant threat of gun violence. Newport News School District's failure to protect this teacher is particularly egregious, because all they had to do was believe her and other teachers when they said there was a risk of serious danger.
