Over 400 Black Women and Girls Are Missing in the City of Oakland      Sign Now      Annisa,   Oakland-based organizations and activists are sounding the alarm on the terrifying rate of abduction of Black girls and women in the city. Of the 1,500 people that are missing in Oakland, nearly one third of them are Black women — a wildly disproportionate and alarming rate.   This is a crisis that we can't ignore any longer, and the state of California must do something about it!   Luckily, justice is already being pursued. If signed into law, Senate Bill 673 would establish an 'ebony alert' and help dedicate more energy and resources to finding Black girls and women that are missing across California.   Black women have a right to safe and successful lives. But study after study shows that Black women are more likely to experience many of types of violence, like domestic abuse and homicide, than other races of women.   We must put pressure on California legislators to pass a bill that would help locate Black youth and Black women statewide!
