Regulatory bodies require researchers to undergo rigorous reviews and obtain prior approval to ensure they are not negligent or overtly cruel in their experiments. However, an internal investigation revealed that researchers had conducted multiple surgeries on captive rats without approval — including a disturbing procedure called a "jugular vein cutdown." Even worse, researchers did not provide these pats with any pain relievers or after-care. The report stated that the laboratory involved had the "highest rate of noncompliance on campus" when it came to the treatment of their rat population. The head researcher in charge has since tried to justify these outlandish behaviors, saying he "didn't understand what the protocol was" to obtain approval. He even claimed that he "did not realize the rats needed pain relievers." This is unacceptable and mind-boggling. The non-profit Stop Animal Exploitation NOW! is calling for the University to terminate these projects and ban the affiliated staff from working with animals again, since they clearly cannot be trusted to do so. I put him in the freezer."    After the pet owner shared her story on social media, another dog mom responded saying her dog had also died at the kennel — on the same day. Authorities have since identified at least 24 dogs that this woman had severely neglected. Five of the dogs ended up dying.   All pet owners involved had entrusted this woman because she seemed to be running a reputable business. But apparently, the woman had actually been running an illegal kennel business out of her home, operating without a license.
