Annisa,
We all expect the sweet treat we buy at the store to bring joy, not harm. But new research shows that many dark chocolate products across the market contain harmful heavy metals like lead and cadmium. Lead is known cause severe health problems, particularly in children, and cadmium has been shown to cause cancer!
This holiday season, as we reach for a bar of chocolate to share with friends or use in our baking, we now must worry about the poisonous repercussions.
Shockingly, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (F1DA) doesn't set enforceable limits on toxic heavy metals like these in most foods, just meager suggestions. The agency must step up and pass policies that would curb these toxins in the products millions of consumers buy and eat, both in the U.S. and worldwide! Without clear regulations, chocolate producers are free to expose us to these deadly metals, and even profit from it.
Sign the petition if you agree that it's time for the FDA to hold producers accountable and ensure our food is safe from heavy metals!
