8 Characters That Will Crash Nearly Any App on a Mac
If you type "File:///" into almost any app on your Mac, it will crash, according to a bug report posted on Open Radar. The odd bug only appears to be present in OS X Mountain Lion--the latest release of Apple's operating system. It was also discovered that the bug amusingly even crashes the Mac error reporter.

Iran unveils 'Stealth' Fighter Jet
Iranian state media released videos and pictures of a new homemade combat aircraft, which officials say can evade radar. President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad said the single-seat Qaher F313 had "almost all the positive features" of the world's most sophisticated jets. Footage showed the jet in flight, but not its take-off or landing.

AT&T Forces Data Plan for Unlocked Smartphones
After Joel Runyon's old dumbphone died a few months ago, he picked up a used iPhone. He just needed it for basic phone capabilities, and used it as such, turning data off. However, AT&T eventually figured out he was making calls from a smartphone, and they decided he needed a data plan, even if he wasn't going to use it.

Apple's Silent Shutdown of Java 7 Ticks Off Mac Users
For the second time in a month, Apple has stealthily disabled Java on Macs. The first time was on Jan. 10--the same day a Java vulnerability was being exploited in the wild. Apple hasn't issued any official statements advising users of the change or its reasons, much to the frustation of Mac users.

Obama's Rules for Assassinating American Citizens Leaked

A Justice Department memo that lays out the legal case for the Obama administration ordering drone strikes on American citizens as part of counterterrorism operations was recently leaked. Notably, the memo doesn't stipulate that the targeted Americans have to be engaged in an active plot against the United States.
