Members of the public watched in horror as a man stood on a west London bridge and tipped a box of kittens over the edge into the River Thames. One kitten was saved only because a bystander intervened in time. The other two fell into the water and were later found in serious condition, requiring emergency veterinary care.
Witnesses reported hearing the man say, "let them die, I want them to die," as the kittens were thrown from the bridge. This was not an accident.
