Bill Gates Opens Up About Steve Jobs
Bill Gates got a bit emotional when talking to CBS's 60 Minutes about Steve Jobs. The interview was mostly devoted to Gates' charitable efforts, but when the conversation shifted to his relationship with Jobs, Gates--normally so cerebral--got a bit teary-eyed as he described his last meeting with Jobs as "forward looking."

iTunes Continues to Choke Windows PCs
AppleMobileDeviceService.exe has been in iTunes since version 7.3 and people have complained on the Apple boards more than two years ago that it was consuming up to 50% of CPU cycles, and thus far it's as bad as it always has been, according to NetworkWorld's Andy Patrizio. He added, "Mind you, Mac users aren't complaining. Just Windows users."

State May Ban Tesla Sales to Prevent 'Unfair Competition'
North Carolina lawmakers have introduced a bill that would prohibit automakers from selling their cars in the state. Although the law would apply to all car manufacturers, the intended target is clear: Tesla. It's the only U.S. automaker whose business model relies on selling cars directly to consumers instead of through a network of third-party dealerships.

Mayan Pyramid Leveled by Construction Crew
If an imposing 2,300-year old Mayan temple situated at the Nohmul complex in northern Belize was on your list of things to see before you die, you're too late. The monument was essentially destroyed by a construction crew in order to provide gravel for road construction.

Microsoft Reads Your Skype Chat Messages?
A Microsoft server accesses URLs sent in Skype chat messages, even if they are HTTPS URLs and contain account information. A reader notified Heise Security, which replicated the observation by sending links via Skype, including one to a private file storage account, and found that these URLs are shortly after accessed from a Microsoft IP address.
