Pretending to Be Stupid to Avoid Being Bullied
More than 90% of 1,000 11-16 year-olds surveyed say they have been bullied, or seen someone be bullied, for being intelligent or talented, according to the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA). Also, 12% of the children said they have played down their ability in science, and 18.8% of girls and 11.4% of boys said they deliberately underachieved in math to evade bullying.

Activists' Drone Shot Out of the Sky Again
Animal rights activist group "SHARK," or SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness, says that hunters have shot down its camera-equipped drone that was flying over a hunt club where hunters were shooting captive live pigeons. The drone, dubbed 'Angel,' was a Cinestar 8 octocopter estimated at $4,000. This wasn't the first time SHARK has been shot out of the sky.

Windows 8 Sales Below Projections
With early reports indicating that Windows 8 sales is off to a slow start, it's worth pondering what Microsoft could have done differently. TIME.com's Harry McCracken considered several different scenarios, including one which would have been much like the Windows 8 we got -- except with the ability to boot directly into the desktop, complete with Start button.

Student Refusing RFID Badge Now Fights Expulsion Order
Lawyers representing Andrea Hernandez, a science and engineering student at John Jay High School, are fighting an expulsion notice for refusing to wear a Smart ID badge. Andrea's case could set a precedent that students can be kicked out of school for not complying with programs they feel violate their rights.
