action alert! The Qatar Animal Welfare Society has helped stray animals in Doha since 2003. But now, they're in danger of being shut down.
Dear Annisa, Since its opening in May 2003, Qatar Animal Welfare Society (Q.A.W.S.) has helped hundreds of stray cats and dogs find new homes. But now, it's in danger of being shut down. Without Q.A.W.S., Doha's many animals in need will have nowhere to go to find shelter. There are already hundreds of stray pets on the streets of Qatar who would only need a little love and support to make great members of the family. But without a place for them to stay in the meantime, these dogs and cats will likely starve or become aggressive toward Qatari locals and visitors alike. Q.A.W.S. doesn't just fill a need when it comes to Qatari cats and dogs -- it helps Qatari people, too. Care2 member Anouk K. started a petition with us to ask the government to step in to save Q.A.W.S. Anouk writes: "My petition is trying to convince the Qatari government there are a great deal of eyes watching."
